I found this quote on Pinterest and it is especially appropriate for my day today as well as the past few weeks. I'm not going to talk about what's tearing me apart right now, because I promised myself that I wasn't going to complain (too much) because I'm pretty sure you guys don't want to hear it. So instead, here's what's holding me together:
1. My Family. They have always been so supportive of me in everything I do, and they are always there to build me up when I need it. Their love and support means the world to me!
2. The Gospel. I honestly don't know what I would do without it in my life. It gives me hope, strength and comfort and I am so SO grateful for this amazing blessing in my life.
3. My Friends. They are always there to pick me up when I'm down and they know exactly what to say to make me feel better. They have been there through thick and thin, and have helped me put myself back together countless times. I love you guys!
4. Missionary Letters. I know I talk about them a lot, but they are seriously one of my favorite things in the entire world. And they always come right when I need them. For example, today was a pretty rough day (for various reasons) and then I came home to find a letter from my good friend Elder Tim Harker waiting for me. His letter was full hope and happiness and it was exactly what I needed to hear. I love missionaries!!
5. Good Books. Pretty self-explanatory. I absolutely LOVE reading and I love getting lost in a different world for a few hours. It makes me more able to face my own problems and challenges when I can forget about them for a little while. And I just really love reading.
6. Exercise. Elle Woods really has it down when she says "Exercise creates endorphins, and endorphins make you happy....." When I'm hurt or frustrated or sad or angry or just stressed out, going for a run really makes me feel better. And I'm definitely not the greatest runner in the world, I get tired sweaty and out of breath after about a mile and a half, but it's a great outlet for any negative feelings I'm having. And it really does work.
7. Music. I love music! And there is always that perfect song for whatever I'm feeling at any given moment. It's also relaxing, lately I've been listening to a lot of Jon Schmidt piano music and it really works wonders! Also on my current favorite's list: Mumford & Sons, Ingrid Michaelson, Of Monsters and Men, Imagine Dragons and Florence + The Machine, to name a few. If you haven't listened to any of these artists, I strongly suggest you check them out. They're awesome!
So looking back on this list I actually feel pretty darn lucky. Even though my life is falling apart in some places, I'm being held together in the areas that really count. And that's good enough for me.
"Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise!"
Love, Brontё
P.S. What holds you together?
