First Day of School, Second First Day of School and Why I Love My Life

Wednesday, September 4, 2013

(I'm taking a break from Study Abroad posts for a bit, don't worry they'll still pop up now and then until I've covered it all).

I've always loved the first day of school. I love new things and starting fresh, and the first day of school is that all rolled into one. This week I've been coming to realize how much I have to be grateful for. So many things have fallen into place exactly the way they needed to be and I couldn't have asked for more.

My first day of school started off with the real life version of Temple Run. Aka: I ran up to the Provo Temple with my friend Jessica. I'll be honest, it was really hard. Mostly because I'm pretty out of shape. But I felt great afterward and it was definitely worth it. One of my goals for myself this semester is to get better at running. My sister Aimee and I are planning to run a 5k sometime soon, so I need all the help I can get.

I had a job interview that day too, which was a HUGE blessing because I've seriously been stressing out looking for a job for weeks. (More about this later).

My first class of the semester was Living Prophets. Can I just say how completely excited I am about this class? My professor is amazing and is so enthusiastic about his subject that I can't help but get excited about it too. Plus I can't wait to learn more about the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. I feel incredibly lucky to be at a University where I get to take classes like that.

My next class was Principles of Design for the Stage and Screen. Long name, and it's a two hour class but it was so much fun. We talked about the difference between using your Right and Left brain and our professor challenged us to draw more. (Which if you know me, I'm terrible at drawing, but I definitely want to get better so I'm taking him up on it). I'm going to get myself a sketchbook sometime in the near future.

Final class of the day was Acting Explorations. It's a small class which will be so nice, I like small acting classes a lot. And everyone in that class seems awesome. Our teacher wasn't there but I've seen her act before and she's BRILLIANT. So something else to look forward to.

This morning I started off with Ballet at 8 AM (flashback to my childhood when I wanted to be a ballerina). I love dancing so I can tell that this is going to be a great class. And a great workout which will be awesome. If I'm not super in shape at the end of this semester I will be sorely disappointed. I want ballerina calves!

After that I had my Stage Make-up class. Oh man. That class is going to be amazing. And A LOT of work. Like WAAAY more work than I anticipated. But I'm strangely excited for it. I'm going to get to do tons of crazy stuff with it, and I most definitely will be taking pictures. So stay posted.

Last but not least, I had my Theatre History class. First of all, my professor is one of the coolest people I've ever seen. She's gorgeous and really excited about what she's teaching. We went through the syllabus and I'm actually excited to do some of the projects on there. Is that normal? Probably not. But I'm still excited.

Aaaaaand now here's why today was one of the best days ever:

-I got a job! I'll be working in the Alumni Records Office. I can't even describe how grateful/blessed I feel now that the job hunt is over.
-I ran into my good friends Charlotte and Joseph who recently got married. It made my whole day. They're my favorite.
-Lauren made scones. And they were DELICIOUS. Enough said.
-The watch I ordered 3 weeks ago came. And I love it. Getting mail, especially packages is my favorite.

Sometimes it's just the little things.

Love, Brontë

P.S. Sorry for the lack of pictures in this post, I promise I'm trying to get better at taking pictures in general, so hopefully future posts will have more pictures.
