Ten Things I Love About BYU:
- The Creamery. Need I say more?
- The fact that we get General Authorities to come speak to us at least once a month, sometimes more.
- All of the attractive people. Seriously, I have never seen so many good looking people in my life, and none of them are airbrushed!
- The Cannon Center. Who doesn't like good food?
- The exercise room in the Smith Fieldhouse. That room is the reason I haven't gotten my Freshman 15 by now.
- All the free food that is randomly handed out in various places all over campus. Nothing promotes an activity or club like the mention of "free food!"
- The fact that J-Dawgs is within walking distance.
- Boys that actually hold and open doors for girls. Chivalry, it seems is not quite dead. Yet.
- There is always a party going on somewhere. Always.
- Being able to learn so much, and having Professors that can make even the most potentially dull subjects (Physical Science) interesting.
- Awkward newly married couples. Is it really necessary to cuddle in the library???
- Having to pay a dollar for each load of laundry that I do. Unfortunately, I can't go home every weekend to do my laundry, and I go through clothes pretty fast.
- Huge classes with 200+ people in them. It is soooo easy to get distracted by that girl in front of me playing solitaire on her computer.
- The stairs by the RB (Richards Building). There must be about a hundred of them, and when you have to book it up them every other day carrying a computer and two textbooks on your back, your life is not very happy.
- Having church in a classroom. It just feels strange and not like church.
- Having to wait in line to take a test. As if I wanted to take it in the first place. Also, after waiting for 45 minutes in line on a Saturday to take your test and then waiting for another 5 minutes to see your score on the big screen, and then only getting a 67% on said test is not a very fun experience.
- Writing papers until my brain is ready to explode. Or until I'm about to have a mental breakdown. Or both.
- When grounds crew drives their huge truck ON THE SIDEWALK. There are roads for a REASON. And honking me when I'm rightfully walking on the sidewalk where I should be, is not going to make me go any faster.
- Getting locked out of your room in your bathrobe. Or worse, just in your towel. Unfortunately, this is not one of those things that only happens once.
- Professors expecting you to remember every single assignment and due date because "it's on the syllabus." I apologize for not memorizing the syllabus for every single class. I'll work on that.
So there you have it. All in all the good things outweigh the bad things, and I know I'll learn more and more as the year goes on. I'm still loving it here and I love all of you too!

I noticed that 33% of your "Good things" had to do with food. :) Life's different I suppose when you have to fend for yourself. Love you, Mom
ReplyDeleteActually, that's 40% :)
