Ten Things

I've been at BYU for a little over a month and I've realized a lot of things. I've categorized them into two lists, Things I Love About BYU and Things I Don't Love About BYU. Here they are.

Ten Things I Love About BYU:

  1. The Creamery. Need I say more?
  2. The fact that we get General Authorities to come speak to us at least once a month, sometimes more.
  3. All of the attractive people. Seriously, I have never seen so many good looking people in my life, and none of them are airbrushed!
  4. The Cannon Center. Who doesn't like good food?
  5. The exercise room in the Smith Fieldhouse. That room is the reason I haven't gotten my Freshman 15 by now.
  6. All the free food that is randomly handed out in various places all over campus. Nothing promotes an activity or club like the mention of "free food!"
  7. The fact that J-Dawgs is within walking distance.
  8. Boys that actually hold and open doors for girls. Chivalry, it seems is not quite dead. Yet.
  9. There is always a party going on somewhere. Always.
  10. Being able to learn so much, and having Professors that can make even the most potentially dull subjects (Physical Science) interesting.
Ten Things I Don't Love About BYU:

  1. Awkward newly married couples. Is it really necessary to cuddle in the library???
  2. Having to pay a dollar for each load of laundry that I do. Unfortunately, I can't go home every weekend to do my laundry, and I go through clothes pretty fast.
  3. Huge classes with 200+ people in them. It is soooo easy to get distracted by that girl in front of me playing solitaire on her computer.
  4. The stairs by the RB (Richards Building). There must be about a hundred of them, and when you have to book it up them every other day carrying a computer and two textbooks on your back, your life is not very happy.
  5. Having church in a classroom. It just feels strange and not like church.
  6. Having to wait in line to take a test. As if I wanted to take it in the first place. Also, after waiting for 45 minutes in line on a Saturday to take your test and then waiting for another 5 minutes to see your score on the big screen, and then only getting a 67% on said test is not a very fun experience.
  7. Writing papers until my brain is ready to explode. Or until I'm about to have a mental breakdown. Or both.
  8. When grounds crew drives their huge truck ON THE SIDEWALK. There are roads for a REASON. And honking me when I'm rightfully walking on the sidewalk where I should be, is not going to make me go any faster.
  9. Getting locked out of your room in your bathrobe. Or worse, just in your towel. Unfortunately, this is not one of those things that only happens once.
  10. Professors expecting you to remember every single assignment and due date because "it's on the syllabus." I apologize for not memorizing the syllabus for every single class. I'll work on that.

So there you have it. All in all the good things outweigh the bad things, and I know I'll learn more and more as the year goes on. I'm still loving it here and I love all of you too!

  1. I noticed that 33% of your "Good things" had to do with food. :) Life's different I suppose when you have to fend for yourself. Love you, Mom
